Sera Brine Shrimp eggs

Newly hatched Artemia salina is a very common food for smaller fish and fry. Eggs are sold under variety of brands, but Sera eggs have the best hatching rate. With JBL ArtemioSet they are very easy to use:
a) Put 1/2 liter (about 20-28 Celsius) to the container.
b) Add one tablespoon of coarse sea salt.
c) Add 1/2-1 teaspoon of Brine Shrimp eggs.
d) All eggs are hatched in two days in the temperature of 24 Celsius.

When feeding with Artemia, lighting, filtration and aeration should be turned off. Overfeeding is not advisable. It can cause a problem in the form of Hydras. Hydras can be hazardous for baby fish. Newly hatched Artemia contains 52% of protein and 19% of fats. It is advisable to add vitamins to diet if fish fry is solely fed with these.

If Artemia is used too extensively as baby food, Hydras become a problem.
If there are many of these, stop feeding with live food for at least one week.
Hydra reproduce by producing buds in the body wall.
